Choose a plan by December 15, 2026 for coverage that starts January 1; plans chosen December 16 through January 15 generally start February 1. Outside Open Enrollment, you generally need a Special Enrollment Period, usually 60 days after a qualifying life event such as moving to Georgia, losing other coverage, getting married, or having a baby.

Medicaid in Georgia

Georgia has not adopted the ACA Medicaid expansion. Georgia Medicaid and Georgia Pathways to Coverage covers groups such as children, pregnant people, some parents, and people with disabilities, under the state's own rules. Adults with income below 100% of the federal poverty level who don't qualify for Medicaid generally can't get Marketplace tax credits, while those at or above 100% may qualify for savings on a Marketplace plan.

Georgia also offers Georgia Pathways to Coverage, a limited program for adults 19 to 64 with income up to 100% of the federal poverty level who complete at least 80 hours a month of qualifying activities, such as work, school, job training, or community service. Its current federal approval runs through December 31, 2026; check pathways.georgia.gov for updates.

Georgia's Medicaid program: Georgia Medicaid and Georgia Pathways to Coverage. Medicaid and CHIP accept applications year-round, and the Marketplace application will tell you if anyone in your household may qualify.

What affects plan prices in Georgia

ACA premiums in Georgia depend on your age, your county and ZIP code, tobacco use, who is on the plan, and the metal level you choose. Your health history doesn't affect the price. Marketplace savings depend on household income and size, and in Georgia they generally begin at 100% of the federal poverty level. The carriers available to you can vary from county to county, so the first step is always checking plans for your exact ZIP code.
